Why I built Like I'm 5™
The gap wasn't the idea. It was the words - and the fear of going blank when they mattered.
Ten years of ink
For the last decade I've written in public - 500+ articles on Medium, 1,000+ on LinkedIn- across startups, tech, work, and whatever question wouldn't leave me alone. Writing was how I stayed a seeker when the room got quiet: turn confusion into sentences, then share the map.
The loud chapter
During the blockchain wave, I wasn't watching from the sidelines. I was attached to a startup that raised a successful $20M ICO. For a while the future felt obvious: build fast, raise bigger, rewrite the rules. Ambition was loud. The language of fundraising felt like oxygen - until it didn't.
The quiet return
Then life turned quieter. I went back to corporate - not because the dream died, but because of decisions I made at the time. On paper, that looked safe. Inside, something kept tapping: people should know this earlier - before the blank stare, before fear wins.
The real blocker
Years later, every time I thought about starting again - building something of my own, maybe bootstrapping - the same wave hit: fear and overwhelm. Ideas were there. Finance was everywhere. What stopped me was simpler, and more human: the fear of not owning the words.
I'd watch online pitches. I'd open YouTube to decode runway, dilution, unit economics, SAFE, burn. I'd almost get it… then sit in a real meeting and go blank - as if the language of money was a locked room, and I was standing outside with keys that somehow never fit.
Why not 10? Why not 15?
Because 5 is when the brain stops only copying and starts connecting - the peak moment abstract ideas lock onto the real world. Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Cause and effect. Top, bottom, behind. Kids experiment on purpose, plan the taller tower, sort by color and shape at once, follow three-step instructions, catch a joke, retell a story in order, match one number to one thing, spot patterns in the wild. Not baby talk. Not teenage density. The sweet spot where hard ideas become graspable - so we explain like you're five, because that's when understanding lights up.
What this is
That silence is expensive. It doesn't only cost meetings. It costs years of “maybe later.” Like I'm 5™exists so that gap doesn't decide who gets to build - the same terms, told like a friend at a café: clear enough that the next hard conversation doesn't feel like a test you already failed.
If you've had the idea, the hunger, and still hesitated because jargon made you feel “not ready” - this is for you. I built the thing I wished existed when the room got loud, and when it got quiet again.
Still writing. Still seeking. Still building the bridge - Sadhak.
